I took a test drive on one of those electric shopping carts at Wally World. No torque, crappy top end, but the reverse gear was a nice touch. Might be OK if you threw some 6 degree trees and more chrome on it.

LOL, I had to use those for a while after my accident and let me tell you Wally World takes a dim view of hot rodding those things around the store. I had a manager come back and ask me to slow down after some lady complained about the speed I was going...True story.

Guy is talking out his rear end. with 148k on the bike, I can't even to begin to count the miles I did running at 80. My last 80mph mileage check was holding 80 steady for 121 miles and I got 40mpg. at 80 in 5th gear, my rpms are in the mid 2k range, and I'm still in my Tq power band, I won't even down shift to pass.

Hey fellas I do NOT always max out my Roadie but I have an awesome never busy 3 mile stretch of freeway on my way to work and at times have twisted that throttle until it goes no more, with stock shitty tires my 08 hits the wall at 112mph. I ride 75-80 all day on trips! I have also noticed are speedos are 4-5mph's slow.

Hits the wall at 112MPH? My speedo at top end up against the limiter shows 105 MPH. I ride on the interstate around 75 MPH all the time, 65 on the 2 lanes. Any slower the bike seems to be lugging. I have on occasion riden for 2 hours straight between 80 and 85 and she's not even breathing hard.

I drive a lot. In the past I drove way to fast but the last couple of year while in a car or truck I put the cruise on at 75. Were I have trouble is on the bike I find myself going way faster then that on the interstate. The sad things is most of the time I'm not even in a hurry.

My Roadies speedo at the top end is 140! I'm pretty sure I will never see that on this bike.

Re:How fast is too fast? 10 Months ago
I just read thru this whole thread, start to finish. Very entertaining! I've run entire tanks of gas at or above 90mph on long expressway trips. Never had a problem. Change the oil a little more often if you're worried about it.

On the other topic in this thread, my stock 1600 would hit the wall at about 105-107 indicated (my speedo is about 3mph off) After the 42mm Mikuni, Dyna 3000, ported intake manifold, Dyna coils, and K&N, she indicates 120mph on a nice long stretch of road that was nothing on an R1, but I like to keep this one under 100mph.
