As others have said, get "chopper" out of the ad, and put Road Star in. When you get out of the rarefied air of HD's, Road stars are an item people look for . They never last long around here if they have a reasonable price. As was mentioned, show the stuff they can get, and that the bike can do two up(wives, girlfriends, and live-ins, are always excited to see the other half buy a solo bike )and "expand your ad base even just on Craigslit.
Where I am in the Pcola area, people with things to sell, will put the ad in the Pcola, Panama city, Okaloosa/Walton, and Mobile CL's. Move out at least 100, or a 150 miles from where you are. 150 miles was my limit when I was looking. That was about as far as I was willing to go look at something without having a good feeling about it.
Also as mentioned, let the buyer decide what "could stand to be painted" or not and stick to just the bike. Leave your whims and desires out of the ad. "I want a sport bike so I can lean again", makes the RS sound like a turd on wheels. Your price is good, and the bike looks fine in the ad, just be patient.

Make sure 1600cc is in the title with Road Star.

I sold my 2003 Road Star back in April, and it sold on Craig's List. When I use CL I search " title only " and use words like Road star to weed out only what I want to look for.

Is the title I used. I washed the bike and detailed it as much as I could. I then took 6 or 7 pics of it from different angles and with the sun shining off the chrome pipes. I then wrote a detailed description and used spell check, as I am no english major. ( I hate to say it, but bad english on CL, and it looks like a spammer ) When I got the call for the bike he said it looked the best for the price range he was shopping. There were 5 other Road Stars at the time I listed mine and mine sold first.

Oh, another thing is the phone #. Just use numbers, it looks more serious and shows you are not playing games.
Usually those types of ads, I will ignore no matter what they are selling.

I would also include if the Stock parts you removed are still available and included with the bike to me that would be important. But the adds already up so just run with it and by all means get pictures up..

I take any add without pictures to be a scam to sell junk in my mind -- The price and mileage are right if I was buying or interested Id still try to haggle 2 or 3 hundred off and not cause of the bike but rather that’s just how I am and most people I’ve traded with are the same.

you may feel that i'm nit picking.but, in a buyers market you have to be clear or you may turn a possible buyer off. newblod, you have that you are asking for $4000 firm. when you insert an asking price. you're implying the is room for negotiating. you can't imply there's room for negotiation then stand firm on a price. imho, a truly interested buyer is going to haggle with you on price if no other reason that it being a buyers market. i think you should come up just a bit ($4300.00) then come down to your price of $4000 if you get someone interested. that will allow you to get your price & make the buyers feel like he/she won the negotiating. if someone jumped agreed to $4300, you made a few dollars extra. if you have have to come down to $4000. yu still get what you want out the bike. it's a win-win.

On CL, you want to spell out your number, otherwise, tele-marketers get a hold of your number, and start calling the crap out of you, happened to a guy at work, that was selling a sport bike, now his cell phone is being called 4 to 6 times a day..
