Dash Panel 6 Years, 1 Month ago
I would like to have my dash panel refinished. I thought at one time that it was made of aluminum but it's more than likely plastic. Mine has some minor scuffing from a key fob I shouldn't have been using. Has anyone had their dash panel painted or replated. If so, could you please tell me who does quality plating of plastic. If I decide to paint the dash, would the chrome have to be removed first. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

Mine's not plastic ???

If you want to have it re-chromed, then pick you favorite chrome place.

You can also paint it but you need to 'scuff' up the chrome with sandpaper as paint will not stick to chrome.

How about powder-coat?

I've re-chromed and powder coated.

Re-Chrome was about $50.

Powder coating was $40 and did not require stripping chrome. Color is hard to match, even their glossiest black doesn't precisely match black paint, but it's pretty close and looks good.

If powder coated, ask to have the screw and rubber plug holes plugged, or you'll have to clean/tap them them out.
