JD does this Gold Wing shock mount right up? Is it air controlled? That sounds awesome!

Search for the Road wing thread. You have to drill the small end yoke bolt hole farther back than the original, a couple of clearance deals, and that's about it. The thread describes the electric/hydraulic adjustment. The stock spring on the Wing is 823 pounds, which is a good boost. User Gonzodad is making wiring harnesses to order to control the pump.

I’m glad I spent the money on the MTX-L. The truth is, ya don’t need an after market computer. The computer on the 2009 goes merrily along supplying what the bike needs.
What started this thread was all the misinformation the aftermarket controller makers feed you, plus Yamaha says it will go lean if you mod the mufflers, intake and take the smog crap off. IT DOESN’T.

Scott had some question of whether the hot weather would make a difference in the way the computer controls the fuel mix. Nix on that. I’ve now run it in hot, cold and in between weather.

My feeling on it is that you run a risk putting these fuel controllers on FI Roadies unless you have a device such as the MTX-L that is capable of reading a wide fuel/air ratio, because without the numbers your still just guessing. Its just my own uneducated opinion so take it for what it’s worth.

I got my pipes back last night with the O2 bungs welded on them! I went to put them on and the back pipe would not mount, I was like what the F , I check the problem and it's the O2 hitting the tranny! So now it's back to the shop to drill the O2 bung out and move it back a couple inches! The after market pipes sit lower and closer to the bike. To anybody out there only changing pipes and air intake DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A PC3usb This has wasted weeks of my season and still is! I'm going to miss Roar on the Shore in Erie because of this NIGHTMARE...

Re:Power Commander? 11 Months ago
Hello. I installed a cobra long exhaust on my 2009 1700 Roadstar. I was told that I needed a power commander so I bought a Powercommander 5 and installed it. I was very unhappy with the installation. My gas mileage basically was cut in half. The bike produced alot of black smoke with the tail end of the pipe black. I went for a tour with my cousin. He has a 2004 fuel injected 1450 tour bike. He used 55.00 on the trip, I used 185.00. I even switched the map to stock mode, made no difference. The bike surged horribly around 80-100 km/hr. After my trip, I pulled the powercommander, hooked back up my O2 sensors and it seems to run good. You would think the whole purpose of the O2 sensor is to pick up if you are running lean, rich or normal and provide the ecu with this info and thus change the ratio for optimal conditions. I also took the ais out because my bike was farting or popping horrible after I put the cobra exhaust on. I guess time will tell if I fry the pistons or if everything will be ok. I know one thing for sure, I won't be installing that expensive 300.00 power commander again. Anyone want to buy it?

Four years later, and I still have no issues running without one, so...

Re:Power Commander? 10 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Here's my update on this whole P.C.3 issue I took the bike apart to get it off, while the bike was apart I cleaned up the left side and moved the pressure rgulator following Rich's directions! It looks way better imho, I just need to pick up some kind of fuel line cover for the line that is hanging between the jugs! I just got my finished pipes back and should recieve my new DEI Titanium exhaust wrap today or tomorrow, once I get that I will rewrap, hang the exhaust, reset my factory ECU then fire it up! I'll post the results on Saturday. One question for everyone, is it o.k. if my exhaust flanges are slightly bowed?

Hit the "home" button at the top of the tool bar. The first tech article you see addresses this. The short anser is, ya need to fix that, while you're at it.

JD thanks again! I was reading that, but they are not that bad, my flanges are thinner then the ones in the pic. I wonder if I should just cut my factory head pipes and use the mounting head and flanges, they are very thick!

They are heavier. What you need to be aware of is, once they bend so far, they won't clamp up and seal the gasket, and they can actually become "captured" by binding on the threads of the studs, and then you've got the pin in the party hog with trying to get them off the studs.
