Someone fell over... 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
My father lives on the next street over from me, I bought the house next to my childhood friends, so hte neighborhood is familiar.

So the old man stops over the other day and says to me "I was sitting at the corner of river and germantown and some guy came down river on this big bike and stopped at the sign. Then, in slow motion, he just fell over! I drove over and put my 4ways on and went to help the guy up. He was about 5' tall and just as wide, but he had a real nice bike, a harley or something. Anyways another guy had stopped, but it took the three of us to get that bike back up. Nothing damaged except the guys pride I guess. But he sure wasn't tall enough to ride that. Then I saw up the street the bike out for sale on his front lawn."

So I had some free time, I swung by to take a look. Sure enough, an 06 Roadstar Silverado, 8,2xx miles, light bar, bags, the works, in beautiful condition. All for $4600. I looked around for damage, but I saw none. My guess is he had crash bars on and they took the damage, and he since removed them. Beautiful bike though, in immaculate shape, you'd have never known it fell down. Only bad part was, it was chained to a steak in the grass under a tree, and it'd been pouring every afternoon for the past week, and I'm sure that bike was out in the midst of it. So sad to see it like that.

My guess is the guy bought a midlife crisis machine, scared the absolute hell out of himself(or his wife), and one of the two decided it was time for it to go. I've never seen him riding around the neighborhood, so he hasn't had it long I'm sure. Still, someone should save that bike. I would if I had the money laying around and didn't already have a LONG list of stuff that I need to do first.

I thought this story was going to end with your dad riding over to your place on his new to him Road*. Oh well. There is worse things that can happen to your bike than a little rain. Mine is pretty much water-proof. I went on a 2 week vacation a few years back on my bike and it rained all but 3 days of it. The bike worked great. I think it took about a month for my camping gear to dry out though.

Man, that sounds like a great deal. If I had the money, I could jump at that. Too bad I spend all my extra money on the one I already have

I wish my father had bought it. However he has 30% vision in one eye, 60% int he other, bought his sportster 3 years ago and has put 30 miles on it. Tried to get back int he saddle after 40 years not riding, just to long of a break. He's selling his sportster, and he can't really even handle that, a R* would be just to big.

The rain sucks, but isn't killer. It's the tree sap and bird shit that is getting all over the bike that really breaks my heart. It's in beautiful condition too. Wonder if he'd be interested in trading for my Porsche...

Man that's painful. Not that he fell over, we all do that. But $4600 for an 06 Silverado with 8k? Makes my dreams of getting $7500 for my 35k machine seem a little out of reach.

Funny because my father had been bitching at me to sell it for some reason swearing up and down I could get 6500 for it. He swears up and down it's only a matter of time before I kill myself. I was happy to show him that one newer and with way less miles than mine was WAY less. So it should shut him up for a while.
