Better to let the tire supply houses keep them in the dark and in a controlled environment until you need them. Temperature, light, and ozone all have an effect tire life. I have flourescent tubes in the garage, and they are probably the worst, due to UV output and Ozone production. My bud was a Parts Unlimited dealer a few years ago and I could get tires delivered cheaper than his cost. May have changed a bit. I ordered a new Metzler today. I just hope that this one does not start cupping at 3000 miles like that last two have. That is why I was considering a different tire. If this one cups badly, I will for sure go with a different brand. I was thinking that if I have to replace a rear tire every year, I just as well go with a much cheaper one. IMHO, Metzler tires are like the ED Roddy seats...........they are good, but certainly not the best. Can't use the stock tire specs with any luck on different tires. I run 38 front 40 rear. Some run 40 and 42.
