Removed the Cobra Slip-ons... 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Went back to the modified, stock exhaust, did the stage II on them, gotta say, I like the deep rumble, the bad news is, I'm still shooting ducks on decel!!!, so next weekend, I start looking at intake manifold, I know my pipes are tight from jug, to tail, because I had to loosen everything to put the stockers back on.

Break out the incense. A previous poster had issues where the head pipe and mufflers join, and I think he ended up laying some RTV to it
Regardless, If you loosened the head pipe attach, your seals could have moved. Also, I re-torque my header flanges after the first run, 50 miles, 100 miles, 200 miles, until they stabilize. I lost one of my flange nuts the first time I messed with them, because I didn't re-check.

check the vacuum cap on the intake manifold for missing or cracked. That is if your AIS has been removed. And if it hasn't, it should be removed.

Ought to be enough. I generally wait till the pipes are cool to the touch.

BTW, stage II is perfect to me as well. Wish I could make my 15 pounds lighter longshots sound that good, and just-right volume wise.

I've heard the Cobra slip-ons before. Thought they were way too loud. That was on an 1100 V-Star, but same mufflers.

I just Stage 3'd a set of stock mufflers... heavy, Yes. Sound is low and deep. My riding bud said, after I'd tried a few different pipes, said the Stage 3 was the best he'd heard yet!

Did you use new exhaust gaskets or reuse the old ones?
