Yeah, the stock pics are nice to have cuz not many bikes stay looking that way for long. When you first pick it up it's almost a toss up between riding it and getting on the web to start the goodies search.

The first time I read the owners manual I knew those shift points wouldn't cut it.

I've always used the "time to shift ear" and it's served me well. Thanks again for clearing that up. This is my least favorite part of getting a new bike. You haven't got to know it well enough to know if it's natural to the breed or something wrong.

Subject: shifter mod
dvblair: Has anyone cut off the heel portion of the shifter? I never use it and would like to have the extra room. I would like to remove it but it looks like you would need a spacer on the shaft and I'm not sure ...
