Amsoil metal polish ain't bad either, it's a mild cream for deep cleaning job, pretty good for chrome and paint.

To keep it scratch-free as long as possible ..... soap and water.
I would not use any product, especially a chrome cleaner, unless you are positive that it contains no abrasives. Even some waxes contain some. Test on an inconspicuous place before using the product.
I use Pledge.

Hey Doc, thought Pledge was for rocking chairs!
I’ve been using Amsoil chrome polish and Yamaha’s lustre polish for a while now and I can assure you they won’t scratch your paint or anything else for that matter. They contain rust inhibiters that will prevent paint oxidation but they do not contain abrasives like a scratch remover does. In the long run, soap and water alone will eliminate all gloss on paint, it ain’t enough. The paint needs to be waxed and polished once in a while in order to keep its gloss and protective layer against dust and acid rain. Of course there are many other good products on the market, it’s often a question of cost and availability.
My 2¢

I use the Turtlewax Chrome polish if theres heavy grime, tar or light rust but it does have a mild abrasive. If your chrome is in otherwise clean condition and you just want a deep shine on it I use Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech wax. Use it on the painted parts too. This stuff is by far the best wax I've ever used. I take my vehicles care and maintenance seriously and have always used 100% carnauba wax but I gotta tell ya-if you want that deep wet look try this stuff. I'll stake my rep as a Road* rider. Good luck Bro.

Hey guys, I use the Eagle One never dull on chrome. A can of this stuff will last forever. It comes as treated cotton in a silver and black can and 2, 2-inch squares will do all chrome and the front forks. Anyone else ever use this stuff? I'd like to hear other opinions on it, but it seems to be better than the Mother's or Turtle that I've tried. As far as the paint, I use a mild soap to clean and only wax to remove swirls and scratches on the tank from riding gear. I haven't tried the Amsoil stuff yet, but they make some good products, not as good as Lucas. I'd stake my name on anything Lucas puts their name on. I've used it in autos for 10 years and the wifes car is now pushing 300,000 and still has plenty of life left. I also used it in race cars I built and engines pulled down for a mid-season freshen(rings, bearings, and gaskets) were put back together immediately by the professional builder. He said he has never seen any engine with so little wear after taking the abuse we put on them. JMO, but I think Lucas works better than seafoam for SVS and isn't as hard on the engine.
