Hi Dave,
I'd say that you're doing pretty good if you're getting that kind of mileage, at those speeds. I'd bet that if you dropped the speeds down to around 60, you'd be getting hi 40's/lo 50's on the mpg's.

I think I definetly have something to discuss with the shop when I bring it in for it's 600 mile service. I knew I was getting less than good mileage but I figured it would improve after it was broke in. I kept track of this last tank that I emptied today. 27 mpg Tell me this ain't normal folks. I could get that in a midsize 4 door.

Just to put my 2 cents in. My '05 get 38 to 40 mpg with V & H pipes, Maxair air cleaner, jet kit and AIS removed. Just did a 350 mile trip this weekend, averaged 75 mph and got 39 mpg with a little head wind.

Re:MPG??? 6 Years ago
Thanks geezer

I've been reading through some of the milage threads and it seems like I'm way off. But it also seems that almost everyone has done the performance mods. So as long as I'm putting on an exhaust I wonder if I should I just keep going. She'll be able to exhale now without grunting but she'll still turn red in the face trying to inhale through the stock filter. I wouldn't run my best with a cork in my a$$ and a rag in my mouth either . I took it in today for it's 600 mile service (at 778 miles, oops) and told them about it. We'll see.

I've put on about 1200 miles this season and haven't gotten less than about 43 mpg yet. That time we road all day on I-75 at about 80mph. Normal conditions (70 to 75 mph) and the bike gets high 40s (46 - 48).

Don't let 'em tell you its normal - 27mpg ain't!

Got a call that she's ready to be picked up. I'll run a couple tanks through and see what I get.
