So 93 octane which is designed to ignite at high compression burns cleaner in a low compression motor than 87 octane which is designed to ignite at low compression?

Ringfree goes the same place the gas goes. So why doesn't the gas thin the oil?

Please explain

I WILL ASK DEALER GM ABOUT RINGFREE, BUT 93 OCT GAS DOES BURN CLEANER REGARDLESS OF COMPRESSION RATIO BECAUSE OF HOGHER OCTANE. THATS WHY YOUR CAR WONT DIESEL ON 93 LIKE THEY SOMETIMES DO ON 87.

I have to disagree with you. On a low compression engine using high octane will result in more unburned fuel = more deposits.

As you build up the carbon deposits in the engine due to using higher octane fuel you can offset the decrease in performance by using higher octane fuel ..... the viscous circle.

Doc is right , higher octane is for higher compression motors. The owners manual for our Roadies is a little misleading, as it says (quoting): "Your Yamaha engine has been Designed to use regular unleaded gasoline with a pump octane number [(R+M)/2] of 86 or higher, or a Research octane number of 91 or higher. If knocking (or pinging) occurs, use a gasoline of a different brand or premium unleaded fuel". Page 3-8.

Our motors were DESIGNED to run on el-cheapo regular gas. If you experience pinging, sure, try a higher octane, but if your scoot has no issues, your wasting your hard earned $$$. 16,000 miles of regular has worked fine for me. BB

And check to see how much ethanol is in the gas you use. More than 10%
is not good.

The higher octane fuels resists ignition. That's why it helps with preignition. But that is also the reason why our low compression engines won't burn it correctly. Premium may burn faster but in our motors that doesn't mean cleaner.

Roadhog1, nobodies mad at you, just giving you some facts to ponder. Yes, ethenol % are marked on the pumps. BB

Side note, turn the cap lock off, and it comes across alot less like you might be mad or angry, just a thought.

if you want cleaner burning fuel. then you should add alittle of the lucas oil fuel treatment. or put one of those fuel catalus in the tank.
