2 WEEK Colorado Ride 6 Years ago
Hey guys,

Just wanted to let yall know of a 2 week Colorado trip my friends and I are taking this up coming month. We're leaving June 16 and returning June 30th and I'm really looking forward to it. We're leaving Charlotte, NC and riding W towards Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, and working our way back to North Carolina. We have a list of sight highlights we're gonna do along the way. I've never done a ride this long and am a little nervous but excited at the same time. I know that once we leave we're committed so there's no turning back. There's a group of 6 of us going, and although I know it's kind of short notice now, anyone is welcome to join us. The more the merrier. We're a group of cops who enjoy making friends and riding. If you want more information on the trip, drop me a line and I'll fill you in with details. Highlights of our route include: Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Trail Ridge Rd, Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, Durango, 4 Corners, Mesa Verdi National Park, Million Dollar Hwy, Dinosaur National Museum, Jackson Hole WY, National Elk refuge, Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone NP, Bear Tooth Hwy, Custer Battlefield, Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore, Custer Battlefield, Needles Hwy, Iron Mtn Road, Wildlife Loop, Spearfish Canyon, National Scenic Byway...and whatever else we run into on the way.

On another note, any packing ideas or suggestions for a ride this long? I'd appreciate any information from more experienced riders. I want to pack what I need, but dont want to take any un-necessary items. Packing space is limited, if you know what I mean. Dave

I've loaded a jpg of our tentative route at my site below.

Post edited by: dosorio, at: 2006/05/19 22:30

Lucky dog!

Did the Sioux Falls - Salt Lake City - Grand Canyon/North Rim circuit many years ago. So much to see!

Wish I had the body to do it again.

Don't hate.... =) I'm looking forward to the trip. I'd love to do the grand canyon someday. It's on my list. How's Cali by the way? I'm orig from LA, Calif and still have my folks there. I visit every now and then.

"How's Cali by the way?"

You must have me mixed up with someone who looks like me.

I live 900 miles north of you but Cal is nice. Not fussy with LA but like SanFran.

Been down your way once to Raleigh. Nice coutryside. I can understand why you stayed.

TMK,
Nothing wrong with a Harley. I like 'em too. I hear Colorado is very beautiful and I'm looking forward to the trip. Our tentative map shows we'll be all over Colorado. I'm really excited about doing Yellowstone NP. Dave

Dave, you're going to love the trip man. Theres nothing like riding through the countryside. The riding through Co. & Wy. is excellent, I know, I lived in Cheyenne and just recently moved down to So.Fla. Wish I could join your group, but thats impossible at the moment. Have a safe trip and enjoy the sights...

Saw a couple of your post-trip pics on the website. Love the Wyoming countryside. Brings back old memories.

Do you have any more?

Almost anywhere in the Southwest is a great ride.
I live in Salida... A great small town south west of Denver that you should not miss.
I have been through Yellowstone in the summer and the traffic is pretty hectic but the Tetons are awesome. And try to get into Monument Valley and the wide open spaces of southern Utah and Arizona
Enjoy your trip...

I am heading up to Edmonton Alberta in August... My first road trip in over 25 years.
With my new Roadie I am so looking forward to the trip..The Jasper Park Highway is calling
