My feelings the same on letting anyone use my R*. Loaned out my old XS1100 one time to a friend who's wife totaled their car. (Everybody was fine but the car died.) Only extra thing I had was the bike. Said he would only need it for a week or so. Or so turned out to be all summer. (They got their new car 2 weeks after the accident). I won't even go into the multiple excuses he gave me. When it was returned the back tire was almost bald. And he brought it back on a weekend I was visiting my daughters. Never did get him to cover the tire price. Although the man is still my friend, (Maybe not as close as before though), It taught me a major lesson about loaning stuff out. Sad part was where and when I grew up, You could loan out anything. (Except the wife! ) And it always came back quickly, cleaned, and fueled.

Ah yes... The good old days!

Funny you should mention this. I always get comments like "nice Harley", or "What kind of Harley is it?" Last week at the video store some guy let me gut in line because he said that must be my "Harley" out front. I don't even speak to those people anymore. If you can't tell the difference, you probably wipe your ass with a shower curtain.

However, I do have a leather doo rag made by Harley, I wear Harley boots, but the leather chaps and jacket are generic. I would have bought Yamaha boots, but they don't make them. And, like Harley, they are proud of the Yamaha name and charge dearly for it. They should pay us for the advertising.

Just a thought.

Most people who ride Harleys are wantabie's. They went out and got credit for a Harley just so they could say "I own a Harley" I made up some shirts for these people. The shirt reads
Bikers are a rare breed
no matter what they ride!
HARLEY OWNERS are a dime
a dozen!!

The average person out there doesn't know a Harley from a Yamaha. But the name Harley has been embeded into people's brains so they see a motorcycle and just assume it's a Harley.

Im sick and tired of Harley Owners the only reason most have them, at least down here in Florida is to say "I got a hawg" if you want TRUE VALUE you would never buy one. 8 months ago I paid 7k for a 2004 Midnight roadie with 3k miles on it for that kinda of money VS Harley I could have HIS and HERs and one for the kids to share. There was a Roadie on e-bay a 2005 down here for $5500 with 5k on it and didn't even get a bid (There's so many bikes for sale in this area and no market north of here this time of year). When I pull up where Harelys are at, they don't look at me or talk to me, I guess thier embarassed, really what can you say.
It's a NO BRAINER GUYS UNLESS YOU HAVE AN INFLATED EGO!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya tell me about it, the thing is when they’re in a HOG formation, not a sole will dare talk to a metric owner, but when alone, these charming gentlemen will promptly ask you, look at this amazing chrome, is this a Harley? Guess we’ve all lived a similar experience at one time or another, but personally it doesn’t bother me anymore. Suppose the attitude comes with the old American Icon’s logo! Feel bad for them cause in my book, that’s not what biking’s about.

I have to agree, alot of my friends ride Harleys, we poke fun at each other, but none of us really care. Just glad to have the company to ride with and enjoy the fellowship.

Cant understand why there are still some people around that refer to the Bike as JAP CRAP...

It used to be a popular expression in OZ as well... but that was along time ago.

Now they are known for their quality, but there are still some people around that think all V twins are Harley's.
