Re:Going to the DYNO 4 Years, 4 Months ago
I took it to someone else under the advise of my lawyer. This is beyond being fixed. Yamaha has droped me like a bad habit and I have to prove there is a problem. The dyno test said my bike runs at 18 part per million at idle. It should be 13.2 The man told me it is so lean my pipes are glowing red. He said it is a fuel delivery problem and is checking my fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. He asked me how far I have been driving my bike because it's so lean I could destroy the motor. He said the hesitation is because the bike is starved for fuel. I let you know as I find out.

Law,
hope it all works out in the end...
I guess I am one of the lucky, no problems when it was stock and knock on snow, no problems with the mods I have done.. I just play with the settings a little hoping to get the feel I expect, but a dyno run would help fine tune for sure...

Good Luck

Hard to believe that you have SVS if you're running that lean.

Be interesting to see how this unfolds.

I guess it's possible to burn the valves..BVS.. but that is really lean...but on the other hand, if they have a lot of build-up on them from running too rich, they can't seal,, and then would burn....

Re:Going to the DYNO 4 Years, 4 Months ago
Read my old posts. I have given blow by blow account as it happened. The original problem was hesitation and backfire. Yamaha re-worked the valves because the carbon was built up on the valves. (acording to the tech that did the rebuild) The day I picked it up I called back to say it was running HOT!!!! I even called Yamaha customer service to complain. I thought ring free was the cause of it running so hot and came to the conclusion that they did not do the work and took the ring free short cut. Turns out what ever they did made it run LEAN. I even burnt my leg on the exhaust but was to embarrased to mention it. What blows my mind is how the Rep could ride it fifty miles and not tell it's running hot. I am very perticular about my Toys and know when somethings not right. The service manager, sales manager, Tech, and rep all say it's normal and operating within their specs. How the hell do they know without a dyno I don't know. (if there an echo in here)

update: rear is 100psi front is 75psi. The fuel system checked out ok. He is checking the valves to see if they are tight. He did state that there is no evidence that the motor has been gone into at this time. This drama is still playing it's self out and I will keep you posted.

update to the update: Fuel system checked out ok. He did a leak down test and found 30% leaking past the rings. He said it could be caused by the overheating.
