After I first got mine 01 Road* this summer I noticed the shift points changing some upon further inspection found 1 of the retaining bold for left side floorboard gone. Loc-tite on everything and I still check closely. Road* is most awesome bike I've ever owned, used to want a Hog now I've got a Hog-eater.

Loud pipes cause more viberation too. I lost two windshield bolts so far but the worst was when the PMS screw viberated out on the highway. Thought I would never get it home ran like crap. You can go to Radio Shack and buy the solder on phono plugs with the cover. Take the cover off and push it over the PMS tower if the screw viberates out you still won't loose it. Just screw it back in and ride on.

sounds like a good idea to me Curt. I have wondered what the changes were of the pms screw coming out after removing the plug. I think with my luck of "if it can happen it will" I'll get one of the phono plug covers and put it on the tower. Thanks for the information:

Glad to help. If you have the stock PMS you can cut the length down on both ends for better fit and you can still get a small screwdrive in the small end for adjustment. If you have a long PMS like the Barons then cut both ends down in length and the split the small ends into quarters and you can slide it over the screw head and it will hold the screw in as well as keep it from rotating.
