Whirrling noise on decel 4 Years, 4 Months ago
The bike has 40 mile on it so I'm not sure if this is common or not. Today I rode the bike without my helmet (something I never do), but I wanted to see what it is like with a half helmet on.

Anyhoo, as I was coming to a stop I was hear ing a whirrling noise coming from the front of the bike. When I got the bike in the garage ut my ear neart the motor and it seems as though it is coming from the top of the head.

Is this normal?
Is the it the AIS?

Hoping for some help.

Yes it probably is just the AIS. I plan on removing mine soon, but the best way to drown out that noise is to open up the exhaust and let it breeth

Done and done, I'm buying the kit today and I might as well relocate the fuel pump while I'm at it.

Thanks

The whirrling noise you hear from the front brake is normal it is caused by the cooling hole in the rotors and it won't go away. Loud pipes cure it.

Mine does the same thing the pads nevr really retract from the rotors thus you get the sound of the pads going across the holes and rubbing the rotor.

Since you heard it sitting in the garage my first guess would be AIS. Or maybe a small exhaust leak.

Two different noises .... during braking it's the pads rubbing against the rotor. You''ll also hear it a bit after letting go of the brake.

In the garage .....

Well, the AIS does sorta make a chirping noise (whirling ?), so maybe it's that he hears while idling. BB
