Like Doc and BB said, decel and breaking is the breaks, in the garage it is the reed valves or the check valve in the AIS. Two different sources completely but both still normal. Nothing to worry about.

I;m sure that is what I heard in the garage, because it was barley audible as compared when braking.

Hey glassman66,

I don’t know what’s causing the sound in your garage but if you have the same problem I had with my front brakes when I’ve picked up my brand new Roadie at the dealer, the solution might be very simple. The service guy told me the problem came from the friction of the new pads with the rotors and the noise would last as long as the break in wasn’t completed, so I ask them insistently if anything could be done to prevent this annoying noise and that’s when they finally decided to take the front pads apart and proceeded to apply a small film of Lepage contact glue on the two sets of pads, enough to leave a yellowish film on them, and the crucial thing here is to let the glue dry thoroughly. About 60 min later they reassemble the brake’s components, I went for a road test, and believe it or not, the damn noise was gone and it’s never been an issue since. I know this must sound off the top but I guess the glue film smoothed out the contact between the rotors and the new pads just long enough for the parts to settle. This cheap solution maybe worth trying.

I know on car break you put a tin film of lube on the caliper side of the pad, is that where you are saying they apllied it? They did not put it on te rotar side did they?

I’m not talking about lube here, that’s the thing, they applied LEPAGE CONTACT GLUE directly on the pads surfaces that rubs on the rotors, this particular glue is very resistant to heat, water, and oil. WHEN THOROUGHLY DRIED, the glue film provides a protection that softens friction between the pads new material and the rotors, eliminating the annoying noise, and this long enough for the components to settle in. And BTW, it doesn’t affect braking power at all.

I don't know about putting glue on the rotor side of my brake pads, but I know there is a whirring, whining noise that comes from the cam gears on the 07 Roadstar.

Okay, so I'd need to get that specific brand of contact cement. I get it now. I hope that works, thanks for the 411.

I know the word glue and brake pads doesn’t sound Kosher in the same sentence, but it worked great for my bike.

The mechanic who knew that trick has 35 years of experience in motorcycles repairs and he’s a certified Yamaha tech.

Of course it’s needless to say this solution will work only if you have the exact same problem I had.

Was able to ride this morning. The noise is deffinetly the barkes. I tried used the rear brakes only and the was no noise, but I can hear the air system also. Ijust now pat 100 miles on the bike so I'll wait a while before I jack with the glue method.

Removed the AIS and the chirping noise when she sits is gone.
