My bike was set at the Softest setting on the shock from the factory. Followed the adjustment in the O/M , adjusted it to the maximum adjustment (I weight more than you and your better half combined ), and that solved my occasional bottoming issues. Try adjusting first. BB

Actually having ridden as long as I have a few grinding sounds and sparks don't faze me much. However, the passenger doesn't like it a bit so I have to get it fixed. Friday I'll crank that shock up and see how we do. I used to build choppers so even if she gets a bit stiff it won't be quite like a hardtail ride.
It looks great lowered, I'd hate to go back. Then again I also don't want to make the wonderful lady that says I can do anything I want to my motorcyle think twice about that statement!

I know how you feel... I often drag the iron when solo and couldnt give a hell, but when I do it with the missus on the back I get the kness in the back side and a slap on the helmut... lol

Ive got the 1000lb progressive spring on order, and then I will crank it up.

With or combined weight lowering it is definately out of the question.

Let me say this........You ain't dragged nothing till you pull the floorboards off and Really get to leaning her over. Then you start touching down on parts Yamaha never intended to make contact with the road. BB

I crawled under today and guess what? the dealer had even cranked it to the minimum setting. they screwed the nuts on just far enough to engage them and stopped. I cranked it up to the max and will see this weekend if it makes a difference. looks like it will. I had the original spring set at max due to never knowing when the wife would be along. I also discovered that my tires are low on pressure too. A bit baffling as I am real particular about that so that contributed to.
I'll let everyone know how it goes. I like the idea of the lowering and the look and the progressive spring but sparks flying ain't a good thing!
