Why does the Roadie have a fuel pump? 4 Years, 3 Months ago
My backgroung is in motocross, and the bikes do not have fuel pumps except for the new RMZ450 because it is fuel injected.

In researching fuelpump relocation I came across threads where Roadie owners had removed their fuel pumps all together and went gravity feed,

Is there benefits to gravity feed or pumps? What are the problems associated without the pump?

The Roadie has a fuel pump because for whatever reason Yamaha went with the cv40 Mikuni carb that has a small bowl that needs a pump to keep it supplied .The reason I went pumpless was one less thing to breakdown...and I like to "Tinker" with my bike when it is cold or raining...some choose to keep the pump and just put some fuel line in their bags in case the pump goes south on them and if you do that leave the filter off if it has a chance to get you home IMHO....Coug
