Miles per Gallon 2 Years, 6 Months ago
|
|
Let's see what everyone is getting.
For city driving, normal stop and go traffic and speeds less than 40 mph.
For highway driving, sustained speed at or above 55 mph.
Mixed driving - a combination of above.
I am getting 42 mpg for city driving.
And no .... there's no prize for the best mileage except for the recognition of having a bike that best uses our non-renewable resource. and contributes less to oil companies' profits.

around about 40-45 to the 4.5ltr u.k. gallon, mixed town and highway (average 80+ mph).
if i´m having an , ahem!, enthusiastic period of riding, she guzzles gas in the mid 30´s.
but hey, what price for fun?

City driving - pretty rare in my suburban area but in Philly last week - 42.83 mpg last tank
Highway crusing - steady 70 mph - 51.7 mpg last time I checked about 1.5 months ago
Combined - suburban roads and sitting in traffic in towns, etc - 47.5 last week
The best I have ever done is 53+ the worst 36...36 was in January and it was freaking cold outside but I needed to ride...took me all month to drain that tank
Regards, Ted

About the only city driving I do is to work and back. 3.5 miles each way. Otherwise I get out of the city to ride. Country roads are 90% of my riding. Some freeway if I have to. Average speed is hard to judge. 65 to 70 mph to get to the back roads. Then the back roads have alot of up and down shifting. Which I'm sure hurts the mpg. Last tank I checked was 43 mpg. Haven't checked since I took the AIS off. Keep forgetting to set the trip.

I'm getting in the low 40's for combinations city/highway riding. Cruising on the highway at speeds of 65 or so, I get around 50. Hot dogging it, or riding at high speeds (above 75 or 80) or riding into the wind, it drops way down, like into the mid 30's. These figures are with a corrected (actual reading with a yellow box) speedo.

2005 Midnight with BAK, ported manifold, Dyna 3000 and HK's 3" big straights. MIne is almost all back road riding and I get between 42 and 45 pretty regular. A fair amount of up and down shifting. I was averaging 40 when it was stock, so no complaints....

2005 Silverado, ported manifold (baron's), BAK, Dyna 3000, V & H PowerShots, no speedometer correction and standard 150 back tire -- usually around 50 with the combination of riding I do. Try to stay on country roads for the most part and speeds around 60 to 65. Interstate riding is 75 - 80.

2005 Road Star
Samson slip-on mufflers
DynoJet Stage 2 Carb jetting
K&N open air filter
AIS removed
City riding: 40-42 MPG
Highway: 48-50 MPG
Combined: right at 45 MPG
I'm on my first tank since I removed the AIS, so I don't yet know if it will be affected.
