For those who take their bikes to shops for routine maintenance, etc..., check this out;

http://www.stclairrecord.com/news/207960-motorcycle-shop-sued-by-widow-over-detached-wheel

I'm sure this is a rare and isolated case, but at least when I'm done wrenching on my bike I know the front wheel (or anything else!!) isn't going to come off. And who knows; maybe the shop isn't even responsible. But still, it's kinda scarry!!!!!

Aaron

What kills me is that the reporter looks as if they wrote the article staight from the court docs.

Why is she only seeking $100,000 bucks? Did the guy make 5 grand a year? It's too bad that someone else's lack of concern could take a like.

I have always done my own wrenching unless it is something over my head in which I bring the component into the shop to have it repaired and then I reassemble the bike.

I guess I'll chek my bolts a bit better next time. The ohter thing is I worked extensively oin dirt bike, they don't go 80 for long stretches if at all.

She failed to say that she "went out to the bike around midnite and loosened the axle nuts with a breaker bar"...(sic)
