Barnett pressure plate? 5 Years, 11 Months ago
I just installed the new pressure plate. Went out and rode it doing lots of stopping and dragging through the gears, no slipping, great. But the clutch pull is just about ridiculous. I am not a pussy and have rode dirtbikes all my life and have had a drag banshee with a stiff clutch. But this one is the hardest pull yet. Has anyone done anything different to lighten the pull, such as mixing springs or changing the cable position on the lever, or found a longer arm for at the bottom of the cable. thanks for any advice.

I think I found my problem, it was the cable. After unhooking the cable at both ends and trying to slide the cable on its own, I realized it was not near as smooth as it should be. There for I used my cable luber and shot a bunch of wd 40 through it, and the clutch pull feels a lot better, more like it should be. I should have known, but because it is a road bike with a braided line it did not dawn on me at first that was the problem. Anyway I will quit my bitchin about the clutch pull.

Glad you worked it out. Usually it's the simple things that we always forget to check first!

The braided clutch cable is much worse than the stock in terms of strenght required to pull it.

It's also best not to use WD40 as a lubricant. Try any fine grade oil. You can use motor oil or graphite but you'll find it will discolour the cable.
