I have long shots and was wondering if it is possible to pull the back half off, and put tips and baffles in the front half? Basically making shorts out of longs. Anyone know if that would work?

You can do it but I don't think you'll be able to get too much of a baffle in there and ....

- It will be real loud
- You will lose more torque

Go for it.

That's why I suggest that you try it out but my experience with short pipes is that they tend to be much louder.

You have nothing to lose. Take off the backs and make up a set of baffles using exhaust pipes reducers. If you don't like it, you can always go back. Wont' cost you to many $.

The only 2 to 1 that I've heard is the Bubs and Propipe. They're both quieter than the Longshots and better on the low end.

I have a set of ProPipes that I may sell soon.

Doc~

What about the Hard Krome Sideburner? I've talked with a guy that had one on and listened to it first hand. Just as nice sounding as the longshots (think he hacked a little of the end of the baffle) but he was astounded by the performance increase. Something to maybe look at.

Almost bought them instead of the ProPipe but they are loud and the baffles are non-removable.

They are probably equivalent to other 2 to 1 pipes. These type of pipse have better scavenging and more backpressre than most 2 to 2 pipes and thus have better torque numbers .... that seat of the pants effect.

I removed the back half of the pipes and took the bike for a ride, I will half to say the sound is louder, but it actually sounds good. I like the idle sound and the cruising sound. But the deceleration and acceleration need aliitle work. Baffles are not a problem. I could fit 12" baffles in. My main cocern now would be tips. There is about 3" of pipe sticking out past the shield. It is 1 3/4" OD and I was wondering if there is a tip that would slide on that. The ID is 1 1/2" and I could order baffles right out of a catloge to fit that. Also do the V@H short shots have a mount at the end, or they just hang from the head pipe? I think it could work, and if not I could just go with the V@H short shots. Definately need baffles to get the power back and help on the deceleration sound.
