Air Ride, ??? 4 Years, 2 Months ago
ok i picked up an air ride kit for my 99 roadie. a freind said i should look into air ride forks. so i can remove the side stand and drop my frame on the ground.
i watched on old video on biker build off and one of the builders had air ride forks. who makes these forks. I bet they are alot of money. but it would be cool to ride up to the local bike night press a button and slam it to the ground. stand up and walk away.

Also my air ride shock. is there a set air pressure that i have to run for a good ride. I got it off a buddies friends wrecked roadie. with no paper work. didnt care it was 200 bucks.

Hey speedy
Shouldn't have to be at a certain air pressure, just don't want to keep bottoming out. If you run to much air, it will bounce you a little. Run it where you're comfortable. You can run it all the way down if you blow an air line, and it won't hurt anything.

Hey droptopcaddy
Arnott Air Ride has a system for the Warrior. Last fall they told me they were coming out with a system for the Road*, but I'm still waiting. Not famialr with the Warrior to know the difference between it's shock setup and the Road*. Been thinking about getting it (air ride, not Warrior ), and try to make it fit. Just need to do a little more research. I like the idea of a Bilstein shock with a Goodyear air spring.
Did you buy a system, or fab your own?

Warrior air ride system:

Hey Speedy
For $200, you got a bargain!!
As for the air cylinder, that's what most of them out there are.
The pogo effect is just part of it. It's all about the cool factor.
You can still adjust it though, where it is more comfortable.

Hey droptopcaddy
That's cool!! I missed it in the photos the first time. Awesome setup. You do good work. I like your tag line, "Drive it in, Drag it out"!
I didn't get that the first time either. Must be an Ole guy thang.
I want to see how close a fit the Arnott system is first, but may go your way if it's more trouble than it's worth. I want an air ride system that will be comfortable, also allow me to pull a trailer, and still be dependable.
Not asking a lot is it?

this is the barons air ride kit. its a cylinder type.
once i get this think on. and find what pressure it feels right at. I'm gona try to find a pressure switch or something so when i air it down then hit the button to fill it back up it will go right back to wear i like it. those darn air ride forks are crasy. way to much for me. something like 10K for a set. no thank you. a short side stand for me is ok.

yea they want a fortone for the kits,,,i can sell you all the parts you need for like 550 but you have to weld on brackets,,but it will ride awsome thou much better than a air cylnder,,,you can make mine so stiff if you wanted that you cant move it at all,,like if you had alot of weight on it ect,,,you get a pretty harsh ride from air cylnders,,,,theat kit with the cylnder and bag combined together id pretty slick thou also,,,id like to see how it rides

Re:Air Ride, ??? 4 Years, 2 Months ago
if i could i would try to do a twin shock setup like HD. use one for the damping rebound control and the other with my air ride cylinder. The air bag setup looks nice. mini truck bag. its about 1/12 scale of that on my Mack vision. lol. I'll give this a try if its not what i wont then I'll go for the air bag with a good adjustable shock idea. I wanted to go for the long haul but i sold my fairing kit and hard bags, since I might be getting a nice used 2003 Goldwing 1800. yes a 27 year old riding a goldwing. sound funny but life is great on the open road.
sport bikes are not my thing anymore I do miss the power and speed of a 1000CC screaming inline four but the nice sound of a v-twin or the purr of a Flat 6 is sounding better. almost bit the bullet on my old GSXR not one but twice in my life. will never give up riding but wanting the power and sound from roadie and the comfort from the goldwing.
