AIS Kit 4 Years, 2 Months ago
I am looking to install one of these kits on the bike and would like to find out a bit more about it and if it is worth it. Have any of you installed this and does it help. They have some kits on Ebay for sale and read about it and says it helps to stop back firing and has everything included to install. I don't have any problems with bike back firing but it seems that it will free up some power for the engine with this and it looks to be some kind of emissions crap also.

It won't give you any more power or change anything on how the bike runs. It can help with decel popping. Mostly you take it off for looks. The whole unit is butt ugly. It really cleans up the front of the motor. Once you see your bike without it you will see how bad it looked. I'm guessing it helps with more air getting to the motor cuz all that crap ain't in the way. It's just a gadget they put on there to meet EPA regs. Just be sure you get the right kit. 1600 needs plugs. 1700 neeeds plates.

I did order the kit for my Bike and it has the plates, it is for 04-06 models. Thanks for the info, I will change it out when it comes in, I did see some pics of it removed on a Bike and it does look better without it.

Did mine about a week ago. It really cleans up the front of the motor. Sounds much better on decel too. It only took about 1.5 - 2 hrs ( with the flu too!). I can't handle staying in bed for long.
