I have no personal 1st hand experience with the Royal star. I think it's a nice looking bike , but that's all I know. Check NADA & KBB for bike values , to get a starting point. Hate to see you sell it. BB

Go over to the Royal Star site on Delphi and start reading. You should get an idea of some pros and cons.

If you were comparing the RoadStar engine to the RoyalStar engine....
The Royal's V-4 is kinda like a sportscar engine, lotsa HP and goes from 0 to 60 real good.
The Roadie's V-Twin is kinda like a Dodge Diesel, lotsa torque that'll pull a house off a foundation.
The Royal is a nice comfortable "road sofa" for long touring trips on the highways.
But if you are a guy that likes lotsa hill climbing torque at low rpm's, you will find the Royal's V-4 engine dissapointing compared to the Roadie's V-Twin. The OHC quad-carbed Royal engine is a real screamer that likes to rev to make power.
I personally like motors with monster torque at low RPM's, hence I opted for the RoadStar's torque over the Royal's plusher comfort. If your priority is maximum comfort for two people, the Royal is a comfy one.

I test drove one last year and was NOT impressed...........but that was jumping off my RS Warrior to the Royal Star. It seemed VERY doggy in THAT transition. My Warrior would 'want to' yank the bars out of my hands.......the Royal Star accelerated much more tamely. I'd certainly recommend a test drive first. IF I went from my Roadie to the Royal, I'm not sure I'd have the same reaction.......yet

I would keep my bike if I was you, especially if it is paid for. The Royal Star is only 1300cc so you would be trading down as far as engine goes, you have your bike dressed up pretty nice with the bags and windshield so you would be trading for the same thing in a way, something to think about, my .02 cents worth. I love my roadie and have thought of another bike also, I may go with something smaller and easier to handle for around town. I have thought of going with a nice highway bike, either a Goldwing or a 07 Electra Glide Classic 96ci, I am looking at some but not sure.

The ones I have looked were water cooled, FI and had electronic cruise control. All plus's if you make long rides. My dealer took the quick release Windshield off and the quick release back rest off for me, the bike looked awsome. I like them alot.

By the royal star you do me the xvz1300 dont you?
A very de-tuned v max v-four lump

I had one, dont handle anywhere near as well as the xv1600,and thats its main drawback, it was quick enough and ok on long straight roads, but if I was offered a swop for an xv ill tell them to shove it
