I'm interested as well. That's the bike that's on my radar. I gave up my Kaw 650 up when the kids were small. Now that they're grown and moved on, it's time to reclaim my ride. I've looked at a lot of different makes and models and I keep coming back to the R*.

I chatted with the dealer here yesterday for a short while. I stop in once a week or so to see all the new bikes he has been putting out. He didnt say anything about it being available today. I guess it just gives me a reason to go back again.

Probably 'trying' to rid themselves of all the leftover '07's and '06's first.

When I was looking a few weeks ago everyone seemed to have some available and they were throwing some very good numbers out there to start with. I never got serious enough to dicker on one, but their 'asking price' was anywhere from $9100 - 9500. The one dealer who DIDN'T have any leftovers tried to entice me to buy there anyway with an offer of "a couple of hundred more" for an '08.

FYI

I want to try and do a little finer tuning than can be had on our carbs. I just hope it has that kind of granularity in the system. I believe it uses map sensors like the rest of Yamaha's FI, and I have only played with Oxygen sensor base FI in the past, so not sure how far I would get. Plus I think I heard something about Dyna getting sued by the state of CA for emissions violations for its power commander series of FI controllers which are probably the only good ones available for aftermarket on a Yamaha (which of course is not available for Road Star yet).

I guess if I went for it I would be building an "Off Road" bike . I wonder if it would qualify for California's green sticker so I could drive it year round
