valve noise? 4 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey all, i tossed on my stubbies after my recall and then had to bring it back to dealer to repair an oil leak they caused, When i got it back i noticed it had an interesting sound coming from engine on decel that i figured was possibly roadstars version of backfire but i adjusted carb and it is still there so i suppose it may be the valves, I made a little video and it is a little difficult to hear it on the video but around 20 seconds after the revs you can hear a little chattering it is much clearer in person...I am wondering since i am knew to my roadstar whether or not this is normal, I am certain the dealer used regular oil when putting motor back together so i think in a few hundred miles i will change to synthetic but is this sound something to be concerned about?

well this guy with the warrior has the same sound my bike has when it comes down from being revved it is just much clearer in his video, it just sounds like metal pieces chattering together which i would assume is the valves, Its an interesting sound that i dont really mind i was just really concerned that it was out of the ordinary

Sounds good to me, Silv. Be sure to wait at least 1500 miles before going back to synthetic oil. Syn is so slippery that your new rings won't break in properly if you switch too soon...
