Broken weld 5 Years, 10 Months ago
Well it happened yesterday the weak weld on the Yamaha light bar let go at 73 MPH.I was riding in a group of seven riders and the thing was hangin by the wires.I got her stopped and cut her the rest of the way off and taped up the wires, boy did I feel bad this could have been disasterous.I have had nothing but trouble with these cheap lights from all of the rattles to the weld breaking, not to mention the grief I endured from the buddies.Does anybody know who I might contact to complain about this problem before someone gets killed?

You can phone Yamaha customer service.

I doubt that it will do any good aa this has been an on-going problem with these bars and they are still on the market.

Sometimes you can get a replacement but don't hold your breathe.

It is a 2005 Silverado I live in central Nebraska and just returned from an eight day trip to Idahoe Wyoming Montana Utah and Colorado and put on over 3 thousand miles and am really glad that it waited till I got home before it broke. This thing could have came clear off and got under a buddies bike and caused a hell of a wreck. Does anyone have the Yamaha customer service phone # I will love to call them and tell them what happened and that I am going to s_ _ t can the lights before I kill someone with them.

I've read that one of the blames for this happening is if you put visors on the light it creats more wind resistance. Don't know if that's yamahas stand or a theroy but it just tells me they are too weak to begin with. I have visors on mine. Can't wait for them to break.

If you bought the bike from a dealer I would go there first. I have the Yamaha cust. relation number. You can start there if your dealer won't help.

2006 Road* Busted Passing Lamp Bar -
Well guys it is happing allready. The welds on my mounting bar for my passing lamps broke . Dealer ordered new one and will replace for free. Just want to let everyone know just in case the welds are defective on more than just mine. So hey make sure you keep some zip ties in your saddlebag. (quick fix to hold in place till the stealer gets a new one). Mike
