Difficulty Choosing 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I am customizing my 05 roadstar. I am stripping the bike down, it had all the silverado accessories on it, and selling them. I really like the midnight stars. To me the black and chrome just look awesome together. I am trying to decide what color to paint the bike. I found a tribal flame design online that I really like that I am gonna paint onto the bike. My brother in law has the new hayabusa with the orange and black color combination which is awesome. I really want to do the painting myself to save money and also give me something to be a little more proud of. I think candy paint will be a little to complicated. I guess I am just looking for peoples opinions on color combinations.(Not really sure what the colors are actually named) Which of the following would you choose, if none does anyone have any better combinations? Here were go

(1) Tangerine Orange(Flames) and Black
(2) Tangerine Orange (Main Color) and Silver Flames
(3) Metallic Blue (Flames) and Black
(4) or some sort of dark cherry red color and another color for the flames (undecided on color of flames)

I know all this is just random but which of those colors would you choose, and if none of those which color combination would you use?

1 or 3 would be my choice but then I'd have a hard time between them.

I've thought about Blue flames on mine lined with metallic silver.

Of course I also like Kandy Apple 'cause that my color.

If you have not painted before then Kandy is a bit difficult to do as any unevenness in the application shows. It's also more expensive. But, I say go for it ..... nothing ventured, nothing gained ... and the satisfaction of doing it yourself is ..... priceless.

I also like the frame the same color as the main color of the bike. It seems to 'flow' much better.

So .... if I was not repainting the frame, I'd go with black as the base and do the orange flames. Classic combo.

Blue flames are nice but you can't really see them from far away. Depends whether you want subtle or in you face.

Mine is an 05, and is dark cherry red. If I were to do it, I'd paint some white ghost flames on it and leave it the same color. Now that I've said it, someone will probably do it.........

I think I am just gonna go with the black with orange flames since I want to leave the frame the same color. Any ideas with about how much paint will cost, no kandy paint. Buddy of mine suggested PPG brand. I have ordered the hugger front fender and the bob'd softtail rear fender from sumax. Also gonna order the tank extension from barons. I have also ordered a looney seat which should be here in a couple of weeks. Right now the bike is the beach sand tan and silver color. I may draw it all out on paper and try to figure out which way will look best for the flames. I am thinking of going all the way from left to right on the tank all the way to the other side, or where the silver is on the tank just put one set of flames on each side. On the fenders I think I may just do one set down the middle. Anyways I guess I will get it all figured out. Thanks for your inputs

Hey Easyrider

Check out the Suzuki M109R in orange mettalic. That would make a great flame color, or a great base color with black flames. My $.02..

I thought about flames for mine but I really don't want to mess up my BLACK. I'd have to go with Black base with orange real flames.

If you havent painted before you might want to use lacquer. Its easy to shoot and if you screw up you just let it dry sand a little and keep spraying. You have to shoot a base coat and a top coat. You have to build up a lot more coats but its cheaper compared to the high paint prices today. I did my first bike in candy red metal flake with silver grapics and it came out great for a first time job. Good luck roadhog1
