To my understanding the bypass that is IN the oil filter is only there to allow the oil pressure to overcome it IF the filter media is stopped up and oil can't flow through it. Personally, I don't think any of us would let our filter get stopped up to the point that the internal filter bypass would ever come into effect.

I'm actually using a Nissan filter on my Roadie. (part# 15208-65F0C) I've been a Nissan parts guy since the early '80's and have had a few filters apart. I don't have to guess about the quality of a Nissan filter just like I don't have to guess how totally cheap a FRAM filter is. LOL
