Oil Cooler 5 Years, 1 Month ago
Any of you running a Oil Cooler on your Roadie? I was thinking of adding one with the Heat and Summer coming. Does anyone know where to get one for a good price?

You can look at Bucks oil filter protector / cooler. Probably works as good as any. The problem with oil coolers is they don't help much when you need them most IMO.

I'm with Musky,

You aren't going to get ANY benefit unless you're running 60mph or better, and at those speeds the engine itself is doing a pretty efficient job of sinking heat. The real issue with these engines is in "stop & go" traffic, where the engine overheats because there's not enough air flow. An oil cooler isn't going to improve that at all. Best thing to do, in my opinion, is to listen to your bike and give her a break when she seems to be getting too hot.

Oh, other important note. It's a Yamaha, so just RIDE IT!!!!

Best thing to do is not to lug the engine when it's working hard when hot weather. Keep your revs moderately high to help circulate the oil to help cool the top end and pull heat away from the pistons etc.
Just idling along in traffic on a hot day won't hurt the Yamaha's ceramic cylinders. They are made for it. Just don't lug it when it's that hot out.
