That is one nice looking bike. Harley makes some very nice machines and even though I spent much more time working on the ones that I owned than on the RoadStar, I enjoyed them very much. There was one bike that I liked the looks of so much that I drooled at the sight of one in the magazines and that was the softtail deluxe. It's the price that was ugly. After riding the RoadStar for a couple of years I had the chance to ride a softtail deluxe and found it felt small and underpowered but still very pretty.

I've never ridden a Harley myself, and in the group I ride with, there's only one HD, the rest are all metric. Personally, I just don't like the looks of any of them. To me, they don't have appealing design lines. They appear to be just "forced" designs, no sense of natural flow.

Now... when you look at a Star... that has a beautiful flow to it. The curves, the stance... it's just a gorgeous look. To me, the choice was obvious and there wasn't even a second option.

Unless HD starts taking more design & pricing cues from Yamaha, I stay a R* rider and loving every moment of it!

In my work there is half of us that reide HD the other metric and My opion is the HD bikes are good but the price is crazy I tell you what my brother inlaw tell me he says "you know what HD stands for?....Hundred dollars because every time you get it fixed or buy parts it's more than one hundred dollars....
I'm not cheap or nothing but I will stick to my R*

I'm glad some guys have to have a HD. I bought my Road* with 11500 miles and looking brand new from a guy who had to have a Harley. It was in the garage when I picked up the Star. On the other hand I also have an Electr Glide Classic and it is a great bike. The EFI spoils you. No playing with the choke and it starts and runs anytime without messing with the choke.

Never had one. Never rode one. Probably will never own one. Too many other 'better' products to chose from at much more practical prices. Besides, I NEVER was a lemming.

Actually, I've only ever owned two bikes and BOTH were Yamahas - an XS 850 Special and this RoadKill - and couldn't be happier. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla I guess.

JUST RIDE!

I'm not a brand basher, if I didn't love my R* I would'nt ride it. Life is too short to ride a crappy bike. I'm sure some R* guys have had the same experience I have had with brand snobs. But my buddies that ride HD's would still be my buddies even if I was riding a mule.

I had one guy walk up to me at a service station when I pulled in to get fuel, he said man thats a great looking HD, he walked around it twice before I told him it was a Yami, he looked shocked and walked away without saying another word. And we have all met the snobs at biker events. Some are Goldwing snobs (I personally know one) and BMW snobs maybe the worst I have met.

At any rate, I don't lower myself to brand bashing, it's childish. And if I sold my R* today and bought a HD Street Glide I would never make one negative comment about my R* or the guys who ride them. They are great bikes and I have no near future plans to get rid of my R*.

Ride what you like and like what you ride, it's the fun of riding that counts, and the brotherhood of fellow bikers and friends that make what we all enjoy one of lifes great pleasures.

My opinion is worth what you paid for it.

I agree with Frankie. There's a shop down the road that specializes in Goldwing parts, but they also sell Yami stuff. Try to get me to switch to a Goldwing whenever I go in there. Then my boss rides a BMW, and is always going on and on about how superior they are. Compare that to when I went to the HD dealer get the Street Glide for the weekend....Told the guys in there what I ride, and they said cool those are good bikes.
