HARD KROME 3" RES-TECH DRAG PIPES CHROME 4 Years, 1 Month ago
Anybody know anything about the noise level of these pipes? I have had DD 3" Drag Pipes on my 05 since I bought it. They are so obnoxiously loud that I am embarrassed to ride through my neighborhood, much less by a policeman.

I am also considering the Vance & Hines Longshots HS, and Cobra Speedster Longs.

I have a K&N big air filter system and is jetted to the DD's. Anybody have any idea what the carb setup will be with these other pipes? This bike went back to the dealer for the valve spring, valve guide mods due to excessive carbon buildup. Also, the AIS is closed!

I know that there has been alot to discussion about this but I thought that I would ask again. Heard the Roadhouse dooleys and they sound fantastic. Two problems with them, One they were sold and the site is down so I don't know about the future, Two I couldn't afford $800 for pipes.

Thanks for any help that you can give.

Just drove bushr's bike with the Res Techs the other day ..they sound good.he was exstatic.... hearing me come down the street.... maybe he will jump in ....

I think you will be able to swap out the pipes without touching the jetting

Just to be clear, the pipes I have now are "NOT" res tech pipes. They are the first generation HK DD 3" pipes you see in the pic above.

I was hoping for some reduced sound.

My concern about the jetting is that the pipes I have now are for all practical purposes straight through. I have removed the baffle and inspected it and there isn't much to effect anything, back pressure or noise. So I was concerned about the new pipes with reduced noise as they probably have increased the back pressure on the system.

Bye the way thanks for the info, POP RIVET, I appreciate ya.

IF you're thinking about the res-tech's I would recommend them.

If you want to rock you can. On the other hand my neighbours don't hate me at 0600hrs.

No rejeting needed. I'm stock carb & breather.

I hope that helps??

Hey busher,
I am using a K&N big air breather and the old DD 3" Straight shots, do you still think the jetting will work with the new Res-Tech pipes?

jlcox1212,

What do you think you will want for the 3 in DD if you decide to get different ones?

Probably $200 and you pay shipping. I want to add that the pipes have two hairline cracks at the base the I drilled small holes in to stop from spreading on the bottom pipe from low siding on the curb.

It is noticable if you are looking for it. I have always had everyone comment on the good looks of the pipes though.

Happy to provide photos if you want, just provide me the email address to send to.

I bought my bike 2000 used, with the old 3" hard krome pipes w/baffles, loud but not abnotious, while riding with two stock harleys, they said it made it sound like three harleys riding up.
But Iam ready for a change, anyone heard of pacificoaststar's monster pro pipes? I like the look.
