Does anyone know if there is a way to make a Road* into a 6 speed. I saw a custom star on the net that listed a 6 speed but no info on how it was done.

I'm also interested in information on how to do this. I've researched the different 6-speed conversion kits but they are only for American bikes. I'm with ya Iceman. Having a 6-speed Roadie would kick ass.

You could contact Baker and / or Prowler. They both make 6 speed transmissions. Maybe they can point you at something.

I talked to Baker they were pretty anal retentive about the idea! I think their exact words were "wouldn't touch a rice burner with a ten foot stick".

Freakin A holes It hasn't occured to these knobs that metric bike owners have money to spend too. Screw em!! You could also check Revtech. They have 6 speeds. I'm guessing it is a very spendy conversion.

I have only had my Road Star a couple of weeks upgraded from a vstar 650. In 5th I have had her to 110 and it felt like I had alot more not sure I would want a 6 gear. I would be ready for take off to the moon. Most of the guys I ride with have HD's. And in my opinion they are jealous. I mean we have bikes that are as fast or faster and look as good or better and we can still enjoy our rides, we have a little money left in our pockets..Its just a name ,,not throwing off of them at all,, but for the money and vaule we are smarter. Reminds me of the kids in school, if you didn't have name brand clothes you were looked down on. Glad I learned the value of a dollar..
Heck I went to HD ralley with my Roadie last night only difference I can see besides price is that HD Lobe at idle, but I don't want to sit and listen to my bike I want to ride it,,, lol...

My brother put a baker 6 speed on his HD Roadking. He likes it, but we were pushing a pretty good wind the other day and he had to shift down on some hills. He didn't gain the MPG gain he hoped to get out of it either. Personally, I think all he got out of it was another $2500 invested in his bike.

Remember, iceman, that 5th gear in the Roady is an overdrive gear. I agree with Jreed at 110mph my Roady is still not screaming, but then, it's all personal preference. As far as Baker's comments, or any body else that dumps on jap bikes, ask them this. How well would your Harley run if you removed the "jap" carbureter, "jap" ignition system, and "jap" electrical switches? By the way, the next chance you get stop in a Harley dealership, pick up any chrome acessory off the shelf and see where they are made, Taiwan no less. I have owened Harley's as well as japanese bikes over the past 25 yrs, and I just sold my Electra Glide to buy an '05 Roady. I like them all. The only reason Harley is more dependable now than say 20 yrs ago is because of the japanese parts, any honest mechanic will tell you that. Just one more thing, the factory windshield, seat, and tires on my Roady were made in the USA.
