hiya guys, back again!
been away due to business closely followed by exploding computer syndrome. back regually again soon.
in the mean time, my 2000 roadie has developed it´s first fault on the way home tonight. for the last month the fuel guage has been a bit iffy, but i know when she needs topping up so it wasn´t a problem. tonight i lock the shop, start her up, and she mises a couple of beats on one pot. `hmmm, bit odd´ i thought, and started off on the way home. noticed a bit of a miss that gradually got worse to the point of losing anything above 2000rpm with the tacho going loopy at that point, and nothing below 1000rpm. i pulled over into a parking space and whipped the tank off and checked all connections, and all where secure and clean. put it back together again and she still was not playing the game.
so sunday i´ve got to go to the shop, grab the manual and multimeter, and spend sunday buggering around with the esoteric art that is electrical fault tracing.
gotta admit that i´m kinda hoping that the ignition box is crapping out, cos then i can grab a
dyna 3000 out of the housekeepy cash without the missus complaining too much. `honest my love, it IS cheaper than the O.E.M. ignition unit´
right, this bit is being added on later due to the battery on the laptop crapping out before i could submit (it´s one of them weeks.....)
i´ve run tests with the multi meter on the pickup coil, coils, and relay, and it would seem all is o.k, so it seems to point to the ignition box
anyone had similar symptoms and found a solution?
