Your Favorite Stretch of Road. 4 Years ago
Coming back for Crandon this past weekend (in the car) I took Hwy 55 through Mole lake, etc. From about 3 miles south of Mole Lake to Hwy 47 through the Menominee Reservation it's nothing but twisting, hilly, mostly tree-lined road. Almost 50 miles of bliss. Big vehicles with campers tend to stay off this route for obvious reasons leaving it mostly to bike traffic. A lot of it follows the Wolf River. Now that's scenery with some good fishing in spots. What you got in your neck of the woods when some of us come for a visit?

Bringing back old memories. Used to live in Mattoon...just south of Antigo. Beautiful country! Lived there till I was 25. Made that trip you described many times. Used to go to Crandon by bike and car all the time. Lake Lecurne is a beaut. Thanks for the memories.

We have now been in Virginia for the last 13 years. Kind of like wisconsin only much warmer and a lot less mosquitos. Great riding here. Mountains rides to the West and coast line to the East...each about 1 1/12 hrs away. In between mostly country road and lots of Civil War landmarks. So of the best riding you could ask for.

Alabama has alot of great riding roads, just watch out for the log trucks. Hwy 25 south from Leeds east of Birmingham is a great ride with allot of curves and hills, sharp ones, and commercial traffic tends to avoid it becouse of the curves........Cheaha Mt. and Little River Canyon are great rides in the NorthEast end of the state.........South Alabama Hwy 41 from Camden to Monroeville, lot of long sweeping curves and hills that can be taken at higher speeds, hardly no traffic and the road is great. Lot of history in this area from Ft Claiborn to other points of interest like indian/settler masacures.......Hwy 59 from Purdue Hill all the way to the beach at Gulf Shores, it's off the beaten path so great roads and little traffic...........Roads to avoid in Alabama, I would have to say Hwy 84 from Grovehill to Monroeville becouse of very heavy log and chip truck traffic to the mills, but other than that it is a great road. ..................This is just a pinch of sugar to what good riding we have here in Alabama, just too many to list!

Depending on which bike I am on.

On the TL - give long and straigh interstate or the dragon its the man on either.
On the FZ1 - I'll take a crusie by a beach
On the road star or shadow - I'll take country roads

or I'll just make do with what I have.

But north georgia has to be the best the ride from clayton to helen is great

Last year when we were in Utah we rode through the escalante canyons on 12 and don't have the words to describe it. Unbelieveable scenery.
