speakers or fairing? 4 Years ago
I ride my R* to work 80 miles every day. I have been using an ipod and ear buds for music, but that is starting to get real old. I was thinking of either getting some speakers (Cycle Sounds $399....ouch!!) or putting a fairing on from www.wideopencustom.com . I would sure like anyones input on one or the other ideas or products.

Thanks!

www.uniqcycle.com

The Uniq system IMHO, it the best on the market. Just compare the components and warranties.

When I buy a system this will be it.

Hey chipwrekk
I've not used any of the handle bar mounted speaker systems, but I have the WOC fairing. If you ride Interstate (70-80mph)you won't be able to hear stereo very well. With my 10" windshield I can hear Ok up to around 65mph if not too much wind. I now have on my 5" sport windshield on, and can only hear up to about 50-55. You can hear stereo above these speeds, but very distorted. An amp and better speakers would help, but you also need that air pocket to really hear stereo. When I go for a 9-10 day ride, I prefer helmet speakers.

hey coachdan, is it still worth buying the woc fairing (just for the fairing)
is the $700.00 fairing that much better than the stock windshield?

thanks

It looks like I'm going to take the plung and buy the WOC fairing. I've looked at several speaker setups and for the money I would have to spend to get the best of both worlds (astetics and sound) I think the WOC makes the most sense. Thanks for the input.

Hey Bartish
The WOC fairing is $600 without stereo. You do get a little more protection from weather, but really a personal preferance between windshield or fairing. I like having the stereo on mine. With a taller shield you can hear it better. I also have my fairing mounted in the lowest position so that also makes the shield a little lower.

Hey philo
Not sure about the Barons tach, but the WOC fairing has the stereo mounted more to the top of fairing, which will give you more room in the bar/riser area than most fairings. Check out the link below, and you can see a tach mounted between risers with the fairing.
