50+ MPG Yesterday 4 Years ago
I just rode 146.6 miles on 2.55 gallons of gas. Which actually works out to 57.49 mpg. No kidding. I may have got a little more gas into the tank on the original re-fill than I did the last. Still, 50+.

I spent the day riding two lane back country roads enjoying the ride and the scenery. Just cruisin'. No jackrabbit starts. No racing. Not lugging the engine but shifting up when I could. I wasn't babying it, and I didn't go out trying to see how good of mileage I could get.

I have the 04 1700 Silverado. All stock except for Stage 1 Exhaust. 14,000 miles.

These bikes can get very good gas mileage. It's all in how you drive them. I see a lot of posts here moaning about the terrible mpg's. If you're concerned about it just try taking it easy for a day. You'll be surprised!!

Have to agree, my best ever was 53+ (once) and 50+ several times driving as you described.

Well Guys I have to disagree. Perhaps it's your stock bikes? I don't ride my bike hard. I have tried to do under 55 for the entire tank and take off very lite on the throttle. The best I have seen in 8 years is 40 mpg and that was with a major tailwind for 110 miles. I would consider yourselves lucky cause I would bet that most of us here don't get 50mpg.

Last ride I did was Sunday for 160 miles. Averaged 48.7 on the twisties. Some hard runs, some slow crusing.

I threw away the paper and figures just yesterday... but when I rode to Montreal last fall I got over 50 miles per gallon, however, on the return trip, I took mostly interstate and consistantly rode at 75-80 mph... and the milage went way south on me.

My bike is all stock.

i'm with you h12get,since i put the 160 metz on my bike, i cant get over 38-40 mpg, so i just quite trying to get gas milage, just fill when i need it, i think the speedo tripmeters clock more mile than they should, i used a gps on mine and the speedo was 4-5 mph fast, and on a 25.3 mile trip it put 26.9 on the speedo that will give you good gas milage

I'm with you. I did exactly what you did with my hand held GPS and my odo was off just like yours. I really don't ride hard at all. Once in awhile I will go all out but not often. I guess we just need to find all down hill roads to ride so we can get better mileage.LMAO!!!
