Last time I figured my mileage and it was over 50 I just figured I'd made a mistake somewhere. Next tank of gas I got around 30. Guess I was right. It all balanced out. That's usually the case.

I got 47mpg and 52mpg out of mt last 2 tank fulls. That's Imperial Gallons not US - guess it would be about 5mpg less in US galons.

Got Roadhouse pipes and a BAK.

I think that's OK for a big heavy bike - plus a big heavy rider !

Well, I checked mine again yesterday...it went down to 41 m.p.g.'s Then I remebered that I let a buddy take it for an hour. He has never been on a Roadie. He loved the sound and the power...hehe, I could hear him a mile away on the back roads. He has an old 82 wing for puttin' around town. Long story short, he's headed to his friendly Yamaha dealer this week to buy a R*. From 2 blocks away, as he was coming back.... all I could see was his teeth and that big ass grin.

I can't drive 55 or 65.....For whatever reason my bike lves to go 75-80. I've been getting about 40-42 mpg. I would love to get 50 mpg, but a Prius is not as fun as my Roadie.

Re:50+ MPG Yesterday 4 Years ago
Well gentlemen I would dearly love to report 50, 45 or 40 or 38...I have to say my 2000 R must be setup wrong. I just averaged 21!!!...although 90% was around town. Three weeks ago I took a 590 mile ride, best I saw was about 33-34MPG all highway keeping it around 65-70mph. One section up hill for about 40 miles at between 70-80mph I got about 25mpg or less.

Yea I know you don't buy a bike like this for the gas milage, but when I hear the 40, 45, 50+ mpg numbers I'm seriously jealous. I'd like to be able to ride longer between stops.

I have larger diameter (2.625)short shot pipes, Barons big air kit and the engine was rejetted by the previous owner for better low end??? (what ever that means). Other than that its stock.

I have to pull the carb apart and see whats inside. I will say, just a two weeks ago I got it back from the dealer after the trans recall and when it was apart at the dealer I went by and the top of the pistons were black...so the dealer leaned out the PMS...I'll have to look at the spark plugs and see if that helped...although prior to the dealer doing the recall the spark plugs didn't seem to be showing a rich mixture.

Best I've gotten with my '04 is about 36 and that was all highway and averaging about 70 mph most of the time. Guess I need to slow it down, loose weight and maybe do the Musky Enricher Trick to squeeze a few more miles out of it.
