Louder Pipes 4 Years ago
I finally got the stage 2 stock exhaust mod done but it isn't quite right yet. I mean it sounds real good and even runs better now. My wife can hear me pull in the drive now, and she'll come and open the garage door for me. The problem here is I have to wait on her to get the door up. If my pipes were louder, She could hear me earlier and have it open well before I get there and no more waiting. What do Y'all think?

P.S. dont tell her I wrote this.

Get a key chain garage door remote, holds my r* key. I have one. I open the garage all by myself. I've got the HK 3" straights to wake up my neighbors at 5AM

Seems to me if your intention is to get louder pipes and you need the mrs' buyin, you might need a better reason than that. You have her trained pretty well if she's doing this already.

I like my Vance and Hines and they sound great. My wife opens my garage door and can hear me about a block away.

Wilburn,

Go to stage three!!
From the sounds of it (no pun intended) you need the extra that stage three will give you. It's a much deeper sound and LOUDER than stage 2. One of the first things I did when I got my Roadie.

If you are sure you want the full stage three you can save some time and do as I did with a slight modification on the stage 3 drilling. Instead of drilling with a 15 inch long drill bit into the front baffle plate I took a long 3/4 inch round steel bar - sharpened to a point on one end - took a mall and punched through the front baffle in three places. Very quick and easy. GREAT sound.

You can see the 3 places to drill (or punch through as I did) in the actual photograph on the link aon stage 3 mods in the tech section.

Hope this helps push you to a stage three guy.

I live way out in the country and my wife can hear me coming a mile away but for some reason she never opens the door for me.
