I have a 2006 Road Star. When I bought the bike it had Vance and Hines Power Shots and had been rejeted from the dealer with stoch air cleaner. When I brought it home I kept it around 60 mph and the best I could get was 33 mpg. I called the dealer and they had put a Dynojet kit in it with the needle on the 4th notch from the top and a 167.5 main and stock piolet of 35. I called Dynojet and they said it was to rich to go to the third groove and try it. The bike was really rich from the dealer because you could smell gas running down the road. I changed the needle to the 3rd slot and it went to mid 40's just like that. I do a lot of highway riding at 70 mph so I am going to change the 32 tooth to a 33 tooth and see if that will improve it a little. I would be curious what RPM I am running at 60 MPH with the stock 32 and what it would do at 60 MPH with the 33. I do not have a tack on my bike so I do not know how to test it.

If that set up is correct their mixing a Dyno jet needle with yamaha Mykuni jets.
Doc say`s (usually) you don`t need to rejet if your only doing pipes or maybe a
slight PMS adjustment. Also the 167.5 is smaller than the stock(which I think is
a 182.5)Your stock pilot should be fine I run DJ needle 4th clip,DJ175main,
stock pilot,PMS at 3.IF you got the rest of the DJ parts back from the DEALER
see what jets there are left.a DJ175main is slightly smaller than the Mikuni 167.5,
BUT Mikunis are according to flow and DJ according to size. Hope this Helps, also I don`t have a stock air cleaner.

I also agree that you should not have to rejet but the dealer had done it according to DynoJet. Dynojet was the ones who told me to leave the original piolet jet alone. I suppose that is what the dealer was told also. Dynojet said you could not compare there 167.5 to the stock jet because Dynojet has a sharper point and seals differently than Mikuni. The bike runs great with no backpopping. Its just that I would like to lower my RPM at 70 to 80 mph and I think I would do better on gas milage at that speed. The other day staying 60 mph and not getting on it I was able to get 48 mpg. I was more than happy with that. I have no idea on the PMS screws. I have never touched them. I know the sound is great. I have had tons of people come and look at the pipes and wonder what they are. I have had Vance and Hines Longshots before but these are even deaper sounding. They are the Vance and Hines Powershots.

167.5 is a Mikuni main jet size,Dyno jet mains dont have half sizes
they go 165,170,175,180 and so on up to 210,so if you have a DJ main
what size is it?

Post edited by: vegasdave, at: 2006/09/01 15:27

You are correct. I misread what I had written in my notes. It is a 175.
