Bike Won't Start!!! 3 Years, 8 Months ago

Ok here goes was putting windshield back on, had to move apes back a bit. Loosened controls and readjusted pinched starter button wire and shorted something out. Rode to end of street and realized starter was staying engaged rode back to house shut off half way down the street and coasted home. Fixed wire and now bike wont turn over can jump from bat to starter and it turns but won't start. Also checked switches stop switch has continuity either way you click it when hooked up to bike, can unplug in headlight and it checks right. What in the bike could keep it from starting like this. HELP!!!!
