Road Trip Thru Cal 3 Months, 1 Week ago
My 13yr old got good grades so it's road trip time.
A friend and his lady and I and my son are going to trailer the bikes to Vegas arriving the morn of May 30th. We will then proceed to the drive thru chapel so my buddy can be wed on his bike, with me and and son as witness and ring bearer on my bike. Ride around Vegas, would like to ride over Hoover Dam.
Then on thru Death Valley to 395 down to 178 thru Kings Canyon. Up to Yosemite, over Tioga Pass back to 395. Up to Tahoe. Over to Santa Rosa, down the Great Highway 1, hopefully a night in Morro Bay, to LA. Hit up the Rock Store on Sunday June 8th, back to Vegas, spend the night. Load the truck morn of June 9th and back to Colorado. If any Clinicians are along this route and would like to grab a drink or lunch or just ride along for a ways or just meet, sound off. If it can happen, great.
Man, it's been over 3 decades since I last rode the PCH!!!

May 30th, Vegas, Hoover Dam, then Death Valley.

Then when the rest is done, back to vegas, assuming on IS 15.

Thats a great ride, but that time of year will be HOT in the areas above. Brings lots of fluids and make sure you have good ventilated flow through clothing on.

Sure wish I could hook up with you, but won't be close unless I am at work (Santa Monica - near downtown LA).

Have fun Bru!

Sounds like a great trip.

Hey Bru,

Do you know what day you'll be leaving Tahoe and heading for Santa Rosa? You'll be passing right through my backyard. If I can do a little cruisin with ya, I'd like to.

Where is the Rock Store and what is it? Must be cool though - based on the remarks here.

For those of you who don't know of The Rock Store:

http://www.rock-store.com/

Every Sunday morning we would ride there. This is where I was exposed to many an exotic bike. Ariels, Indians, Excelsior, Guzzi, Norton, Royal Enfield, Matchless, and many more. Even a Victoria Burgmeister. But as great as these bikes were, we would be standing around looking at them and a rumble would come from around the bend, and here would come the Vincent Black Shadow club. Everyone took a step back for that. Mind you, this was before big metrics. I remember when the first Honda CB750 rode up. Everyone gawked and stared in wonder at it.

10 day forecast for Death Valley shows high of 104, low 75 for next Saturday. We are hoping to hit the road about 5:00 am and be thru it before the major heat hits. Getting back to Vegas we will be on the I15 mid day but we have all day to do it. If I remember it's about 280 miles.
