The R* windshield has a special coating on it. If you try to buff out the scratches it screws up the coating and makes it worse.

You'll just have to live with it.

First, thanks for pointing that out. Never heard of that.

So, the only reason I can think of for doing it is to keep people from fixing the scratches so they have to buy a new shield. That would explain to me why Yami lets you buy new Silverado plastic without having to buy the chrome too. Should have known they weren't just thinking of the customer.

Hey Roland
You can use 'Pledge' furniture polish and cleaner, lemon or orange scent, doesn't matter. I have used it exclusively on my '05 and have no scratching (25,300 miles).
I just spray a generous amount onto an old t-shirt, wipe away the bugs and buff it up with another clean t-shirt.

Hope this helps.
Regards
Ricker

You can remove the scratches from your windshield by removing the windshield from your bike and throwing it in the dumpster. Windshields belong on cars, not motorcycles!

And face masks belong on Bank robbers not Bikers
Maybe now is your chance to get a cool tinted replacement

they dont have black so you cant scare little kids on their tricycles at street corners

I see they have something for your windshield that claims to remove small scratches ie fill them with clear wax so they are less noticable

Like ricker said lemon pledge ..a favorite amongst harley show and shines may do the same thing

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/09/04 09:29

And ALWAYS wipe up and down, never across or in a circular motion. This will ensure no swirls in the plastic.

I use pledge in between but always wax my windshields with whatever wax I'm using on the bike. Liquid Glass is great. The new Nanowax is also great.

Existing scratches will probably continue to exist, I'm afraid.......

You guys are too funny.

Another one for Pledge. I use it on the whole bike, except the windshield (don't have one)
