Re:50+ MPG Yesterday 4 Years ago
I have always felt good about ridin my bike to work, when weather permits, because I save on gas and I get to ride!

Now with the prices of gas, its more like I for damn sure better ride if weather permits, cause my passport gets under 20mpg. $15 a week for gas in the bike beats $60 every week and a half - 2 weeks for gas in the passport!

I was all tore up over the terrible gas mileage situation, but I am very happy now!

Sorry all you others who are still in bad mpg land

this debate/discussion on gas milage doesn't even make sense to me.

It doesn't matter what you're in - boat, truck, bike, car, moped, suv, Hemi or whatever, if you ride hard you mileage will suck, if you ride the speed limits it won't!

These guys are not all riding hard...with $4+ gas if I can help one guy get better mileage, like others around here helped me, then this discussion makes perfect sense.

Regards, Ted

Re:50+ MPG Yesterday 4 Years ago
Thanks for saying that Ted. Cause I was going to say the same thing. I really ride my bike easy for the most part. Now on occasion I have to open her up to pass vehicles on longer rides but my daily driving is 55 mph for 6 miles to work with one stop light on the way. I even tried riding to work at 50 mph for one tank full. The best I can get no matter how I ride is 38 mpg. I did get 40 mpg once on a 100 mile trip with about a 30 mph tailwind and the rest of my tank was daily riding. Before I added any bags I had a stock R*. I did around 45 mpg. But when I changed my pipes and air box my mileage dropped around 38. I have since added all the other items like hard bags, tour pak & fairing. Now I did notice that when my air filter would get dirty and with all the add on's my mileage went down to around 31. I have since added different pipes & the Mr.C air cleaner. My mileage jumped up to 38. I check my air pressure in the tires at least once a month and like I said I ride my bike like I own it and have to pay for it not like I stole it!!!!!

Re:50+ MPG Yesterday 4 Years ago
add me to the low end on mileage, I ride about 500 miles a week around town and get 32, last weekend went on a 200 mile round trip with the wife on her bike, she is a new rider and 55 is about her limit so it was a slow easy back county ride and still only managed about 39. I just purchased this bike a 2 months ago, it has v&h pipes seems a little rough to me so i am going to check the carb and make sure they change the carb stuff, etc but either way better mileage than my avalanche at 14mpg. The fun factor is about 10x so even if the mileage was 14 my butt would still be in the saddle.

I normally ride interstate where you can check milage and get around 40 to 43. Have ridden 2 up at 85 to 90 following someone and only got 32. Bike seems to like 75 to 80 which probably makes it 70 to 75 in real life. At anyrate the Roastar is a blast at any speed or mileage.

I can't seem to go slower than 65 on the highway. I average probably about 70mph (between 60-85) and get @ 42mpg. Hypercharger, HK Pipes, Dynojet. I'll have to try running around 55mph and see what I get.
