if I don't push it harder than 70-75mph, I'll get about 42MPG. If I push it to 80-85, I get in the around 37mpg. When I was doing 90-110 , I got in the 20s . I'll have to try running at 55mph (no one rides that slow around here, probably get run over ) and see if I get mileage in the 50s.

38MPG`s at a fairly steady 70 mph.Tall Yami windshield,plus a full
RoyalStar Mounting and hardbag set up withrails. And my 205# ass.No place around here to do steady 60 or 65mph you`d get run over so i can`t tell ya.But yesterday doing mostly 75 to 80mph only got 31.5 mpgs.Truth is I
don`t think we should be complaining even about thatat those speeds.

hmnn so I should get at least 160 miles per full tank right ?? on how many miles do you guys switch to reserve ?? until it goes off ?? until you really really have to ?? because I got my bike last week , rode it for around 75 miles and it started with the hiccups , then it when off , so I switched to the reserve and got to a gas station to refuel , and like I mentioned before , I have only ridden 45 miles and so far it is telling me I have half a tank (well a little bit more than half a tank) that can be accurate , right ?? because if it is , that means I am only going to get 90 miles out of 5 gallons !!

LokoTripper, check you intake manifold. Mine had cracks in the rubber surface and I thought it was just the surface. I got 21mpg on my last take full...I just put a rubber coating over the crack to test it and then changed my clip on the needle from 5th up to the 3rd and eventhough I leaned out the mixture, I got a black/rich plug reading and the bikes making more horsepower. My guess is the manifold has a crack that is letting too much air in and it really messing up my mixture...I'm going to change my manifold out and the keep messing with the jetting and the needle and the PMS.

my current jetting
170 main (stock is 165)
35 pilot
3 slot for the needle clip
I have a Barons Big Air Kit
Short shot pipes with free flow baffles (very loud)

I may change the main to a 165 just to see if it runs well. Most that are getting the great mileage seem to be stock? Some have pipes. Once you put an air kit and pipes with free flow baffles you flow a lot more air and hence more fuel.

I'll keep you posted.

I don't know about that. I get better mileage after jetting, airbox, pipes, than before. I got in the mid-30s before my changes, now, average 42mpg

I'm glad to see that you are getting better mileage with mods...I have short shots and a BAK and would love to see the same...many guys posted that they get worse mileage when they moved away from stock...if stock guys are getting 40-50 and we have mods boy it would be great to see 50+...but I think that with the mods (noise) it's hard to ride slow or slower to get better mileage...the wrist just wants to pull the trigger.

I have always gotten 40-45 out of my 2005. After the V&H Propipe, BAK, rejet, AIS removal I'm getting 45-50 depending on my right wrist!

Let that baby breathe and you can get more power and MPG out of the Roadstar.

I was getting 27 - 30 stock. Last check (with pipes and BAK) was 44.

Re:Gas Mileage 3 Years, 11 Months ago
I have to ride 40 miles before I get to an interstate, so I have very little experience at those high speeds, but on the occasion I do get to ride it on the interstate, I get between 50 and 52 mpg ... depending on whether or not I have a headwind ... at about 65 mph.

Most of my riding is around home and the roads are pretty twisty and bumpy so I rarely get out of 4th gear. Even with riding in 4th gear, I got 45 mpg at the last fillup, which I am not complaining about.

My bike is completely stock except for a windshield and saddlebags.

That said, I hope to someday put some better pipes and a better air cleaner, its just not in the cards at the moment!
