I Can't Feel My Right Hand! 6 Months ago
I took my longest trip today - 2 hours 1 way. My right hand went numb at least four times. I tried unlocking elbows, releasing the death grip etc., but it kept coming back.

Should I look for:

Padding?

A lockable throttle?

...or is it just me squeezing too tight?

Advice appreciated.

ISO grips with a Throttle Boss, or one of the slip on versions. Allows you to relax your grip and let the blood flow.

A man told me at a Yamaha dealer once that if you wear gloves, always buy them one size larger. He said that ones that fit tight will cause your hand to go to sleep. I use the kuryakyn iso grips and a crampbuster (http://www.crampbuster.com/) for longer trips and it seems to help. With this weather down here now, no gloves are needed. 95 heat index at 8:00 pm. Took the bike out for about an hour this morning, came back soaking wet from the heat and humidity.

I have kuryakyn iso grips and 2 large throttle bosses one for each grip. I've made 465 mile rides and no cramping or numbness. You adjust them just right and the throttle can be done with the heal of you hand the other is set about the same. You can open your finger and lay them across the levers to rest and still have good control of the bike with BOTH hands. I don't trusth cruse controls and I had one and it didn't fir very well so I sold it.

I had the same problem on a longer trip I took a couple weeks ago. On my last bike I had a Throttlemeister Cruise Control so I could rest my right hand from time to time and I'm going to get one for this bike too. I like the looks of the Throttlemeister and most people don't know its there as it replaces the bar ends. Check them out at http://www.throttlemeister.com/

I've got a piece of 1/4 o.d. clear fuel line tied around my pull cable. When my hand gets sore I pull it down between the grip and the housing to hold the throttle at the speed I want. It works great and it's even adjustable. It might look goofy, but no goofier than a throttle lock IMHO.

Did a 150 miler today. Right thumb, dead after first 30 miles. And that was with the Throttle Boss. Using stock grips but I think that'll change soon. Question, do counter weights work? Seen 'em advertised as add ons with certain grips. Only other option is quit riding and I don't see that happening for a LONG time.
