Ok Javawave let me get this straight your going to buy a fairing to put on your R* and if you like it that's going to sway you to buy the ultra classic??? And then your going to make the roadie a single seater? So I guess your going to re-sell your fairing while your changing it to a
1-up bike? That boggles my brain! You say there is only a $3000 difference? Really check this link http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelspecs/18/0/specs.aspx
Priced at $11,899 fuel injected. Ok now compare that to $19,000 according to my calculator that's $7,101 difference. And that's if you can get out the door for $19,000!!! Yamaha the cost of service is also less. I can add all the items to make the R* look like the Ultra for about $1,200 so that adds up to almost $6000 difference. Let's see at $4.00 per gallon that's about 1475 gallons of gas I can buy and be out riding for 59,000 miles while your still making the payments on your new Harley. But hey if you want to go throw your money away on fairings and then into Harleys pockets for an over priced bike more power to ya! Just remember I'll be the guy riding down the same roads putting mile after mile on with the big smile on my face, Cause I know I got the better deal!!!!!!!!

Good One Mark!

Hardone2get, I have a friend with an 06 Ultra Classic 5000miles he would sell me for $14,800.00. Bought it and doesn't have time to ride it If I had the cash and I liked that style of bike I would buy it in a heartbeat.

IMHO

I know you are proud of your bike, and you should be, its a great looking bike. There are some differences, and I'm afraid I dont put used parts, even ones that are like new on anything I have, nothing wrong with them just my preference. Yes I will sell the fairing off my bike if I dont like it or if I get the Ultra. I would rather plan my actions and risk a couple of hundred upfront than thousands. I sincerly appreciate how you feel about your money and your bike. I honestly do. I love my roadie too. I loved my Honda, I havent ever had a bike I didnt like. But I havent had an HD and I would love to try one. As I have stated I really want a Goldwing, great bike! but the wife keeps telling me I am too young for one. I dont understand why she thinks and Ultra Classic is ok, but she does. On the Star website I put together a new vs new price, the bike you showed is 14494.30 without the trunk, fairing or radio but with a windshield. I am "estimating those based on what I have already ordered to be in $1800 range after painting. Hince the crap shoot of $3000 difference.

since you can get a fairing, crash bars, lowers, dual touring seat, Dual exhaust, wrap around passenger seat, radio, rear trunk, Hard Sabble bags, passing lamps and Tach for 1200 bucks, I should have had you shopping for me before. It would have saved me the $3200 in accessories I have already spent on my roadie.

But seriously, I think you have done great job on your bike, I want to assure you that my quest for the bike I am looking for is not a put down on what you have done in any form. You have to buy what you want and want what you ride to be happy, regardless of what you ride. You don't need to take it personally if someone choses to go a different direction. Look at Musky, we let him hang around even though he rides a white bike...

Javawave, I too would like to have a ultra my neighbor has one.
I also have a freind that has a VTX-1300 it's a nice bike wouldn't mind having the vtx 1300 either but I prefer the way my Roadstar handles & looks over both but if I could afford three bikes I would have the other two.
