What lay down license plate mod? 4 Years, 1 Month ago
I am wanting to lay down the license plate so it blends in better with the curves of the bike. I have already ordered the integrated turn signals in the taillight. What do you hiys recommend for a license plate mod??

I have been looking at that one, even found it online for $219. But the turn signals are red, and there is a note that basically says that it is illegal.

IowaRoadie, I believe the rear turn signals have to be red if they are being used as running lights. You can't have amber running lights on the rear. I think this is the reason why they would be illegal. from the federal motor vehicle safety standards...

S5.1.1.25 Each turn signal lamp on a motorcycle shall have an
effective projected luminous lens area of not less than 2258 square mm.
(3\1/2\ square inches).

I had the same question as IowaRoadie--the way the website reads, their not claiming any accordance with the law. So your opinion...you see the rules as only applying to running lates? The red would be okay for a turn signal?

Red is definitely ok for a turn signal. HD sells a kit to turn their turn signals from amber to red and act as running lights and turn signals. If you notice, a bunch of HDs have made the change.
